For those of you who did not see my Tweet last Saturday, there was no JFASN that day because my traitorous right arm has been giving me all kinds of trouble recently. Between tendonitis in my upper arm and shoulder and carpal tunnel syndrome in the wrist, writing is, at present, a very painful process.

And an awkward one. I now wear a wrist support when I’m at the keyboard, and if I’m not careful, while my fingers are pressing one key the wrist support is pressing others. The results are frustrating, to say the least.

The timing could not be worse because, as you may already know, April is Jazz Appreciation Month. I had hoped to return to doing weekly reviews this month in honor of JAM.

The arm is improving day by day, and my range of motion with it is considerably better than it was at this time last week. Despite that, honesty compels me to say that it is unlikely that I am going to be able to write four 800-1500 word reviews this month.

Unlikely, but not impossible. Hope springs eternal, as the old saying goes. We will just have to see how quickly my silly arm gets back to normal.

In the meantime, thanks for your understanding. I hope you have a jazz-filled Jazz Appreciation Month!

I would like to once again discuss newer releases here, as well as older, classic jazz. If you represent a jazz artist with an album you feel would “fit in” here, whether new release or old, please contact me at saturdaynightjazz@yahoo.com. I will provide you with an address you can submit a review copy.

Please note that acceptance by me of a copy of your album for consideration is no guarantee that it will be reviewed here.

Thank you!
