Here’s something special to reward you loyal folks who keep coming here looking for something new… I hope you get a kick out of this rare gem!
Quincy Jones is conducting the Count Basie Orchestra in June of 1965. The place: The Kiel Opera House in St. Louis. Johnny Carson was filling in as host of a celebrity fundraiser that featured Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Frank Sinatra.
At some point in the show, the following unique performance took place. This is said to be the only time Johnny Carson sang in public. If you see a blank box at first instead of the video, be patient. For some reason it sometimes takes a moment to appear.
If you’d like to see more, the entire concert is available on YouTube.
By the way, I am hoping to once again resume posting here regularly soon.
Enjoy!
