Beginning at the first of the year, I intend to use this space to post an irregular series of CD reviews called, “Jazz For A Saturday Night”.
The idea is to give you some ideas on how to recreate the ambiance of “Saturday Night Jazz”, the popular radio program I hosted every Saturday night for 8 1/2 years. There will be some new releases included, but my resources for acquiring new music are limited so for the most part I’ll be discussing older albums that I already have in my collection.
(If you are a jazz artist, or represent one, who would like to have one or more of your albums considered for inclusion here, contact me at the email address below.)
Saturday nights are for partying and having fun, and for the most part the music I played on Saturday Night Jazz was upbeat instrumentals designed to make you get off your butt and MOVE. There was some room for a few vocals now and then, and blues definitely was in the mix from time to time as well.
I’m not sure how often I’ll be making these postings. A lot will depend on the feedback I get. If there is sufficient interest, this might turn into a weekly thing. We’ll see how it goes after a couple of months.
Happy holidays, and I’ll see you back here with a great hangover recipe on January 1. 😉
